It’s such a pleasure meeting the brilliant minds, creative souls and visionary young people who are growing up in Moonee Valley.
This year’s call for applicants brought another inspiring crop, who received their awards at a night, hosted by Moonee Valley City Council, at which we also heard from 2013 awardee Samantha Cole and 1999 recipient Adam Basil, now high performance coach at St Kilda Football Club.
Here they are:
* Principal Award winner Jessica Yu, who will be undertaking an Honours degree in literature and creative writing at Melbourne Uni;
* Principal Award winner Louisa Trewartha, who is taking a short course in music production at RMIT;
* Mayoral Award winner Patrick Francis, who plans to take part in an International art fair;
* Encouragement award winner Daniel Hernandez, who wants to present a sound and art show to raise awareness of First World poverty.
We wish you all well with your excellent endeavours.
Also celebrating on the night was Anthony Matthews, who won the Lions Club of Essendon Apprentice of the Year award. MVF enjoyed sharing the awards ceremony with Anthony and hope to continue the association with Essendon Lions.
